Pin compatibility

Hello!

Is there any pin compatibility between Atrix-7/Kintex-7 and Spartan-6?

Couldn't find any information about pin compatibility between different families... Is there any table or document on this topic? I think, it should be. The general pin-compatibility-table for all (or at least recent) device families would be an invaluable help for PCB designers.

No.  There has never been any pin compatability between different FPGA families.

Re: Pin compatibility

we have pin compatibility within families.

for example, Artix-7 devices of the same package are pin compatible.

But we don't have pin compatibility between different families, like between Artix-7 and Kintex-7.

Re: Pin compatibility

Some Artix-7 and Kintex-7 in the same package type may be pin-compatible. We are still testing this.

Re: Pin compatibility

UG475 says:

All of the 7 series devices supported in a particular package are pinout compatible and arelisted in the same table (one table per package). Pins that are not available for the smallerdevices are listed as “No Connects”.

I'm trying to figure out if I can layout a PCB for an Artix FFG1156 package and migrate up to a Kintex or Virtex part in the same package.  Are the Artix ascii pinout files available anywhere?

Re: Pin compatibility

No you can't do this as I said earlier.  There is no migratability between the different sub-families.

The Artix family current has some package names that are the same as Kintex-7, but they are no pin-compatibile.

There are no packages that share the same name between Kintex-7and Virtex-7.

Re: Pin compatibility

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm looking for pinout specs for the Artix family (XC7A350T FFG1156).  Does anyone know where I can find these?  All I'm seeing are specs for Kintex and Virtex.

Re: Pin compatibility

The Zync Platform Summary says it's derived off the Artix and Kintex (two devices, each).  Are those pinouts compatible with their respective families?  (is an Artix derived Zynq pin compatible with an Artix of the same footprint)
