Question on Kintex 7/Virtex 7 support in ISE 13.1 and presumable price of the devices

Hello.

I Have switched from ISE 12.3 to 13.1 (WebPack)  with intention to target Kintex 7/ Virtex 7, but I was disappointed. I can only choose one of three K7 device, the largest being XC7K160T. I believe it is not the largest device in the famuly, I have heard of V6/V7/K7 FPGAs marked 300+ capacity. Also, I don't see V7 devices at all, and I only have 1 V6 available - XC6VLX75T.

Doesn't 13.1 WebPack support larger devices? Is another licence  required? I desperately need to synthesise my design to get resource usage / speed estimation for my final year project.

And also, I'd like to hear the estimation on  XC7K160T price. I don't need a precise number, just an order of magnitude or an upper boundary to mention in my project.

Thanks in advance.

The free web pack version only includes the smaller devices in a family. in this case the largest Kintex-7 that can be used is the 7K160T. You will need to upgrade to the ful version for the larger devices.

The 7 Series devices are in the initial sampling stages at his time and are not generally available. Using devices that are not generally available for an academic project adds significant risk to completing the project within the allowed time.

I don't need to actually use it, I would just like to get the area/performance estimation for my design on some larger FPGA so that I can add some interesting figures to my report (my project is scalable).

Is there any chance I could get a temporary license for just a few days? I don't need to generate configuration file, only need PAR to see the timing report.

Oh, and thanks for the reply.

You can get 30 day trial license for the software. Type it In to Google for links to the specifics.

I have downloaded the trial license and replaced my old Webpack license file with this new one, but I don't see any changes in the list of available devices at all. What am I doing wrong?

Look in the kintex7/data directory and check to see if the 7k325t data files are present. If they aren't then you will need download and install the full version.

There are .bsd files for Kintex 7 325 and 410. There's also a folder for Virtex 7, which I don't have in the list of devices in ISE. Same with Virtex 2 and many other older families, by the way.

I've doublechecked with the license manager - I have an active license for System Edition.

Any further ideas?
