I have been looking at using a Xilinx ethernet solution and I am not sure about the difference between the Tri Mode Ethernet MAC and the Ethernet Lite (with regards to 10/100Mbps).
I see that the triple speed typical application has a DMA engine between the processor bus and the processor? Does that mean I cannot do something similar with ethernet lite? (Does is require more processor intervention?)
Or....
What is the difference (except for the extra protocols on the Tri Speed core)?

It all depends on your requirements if you have any. For me personally, Lite is plenty adequate, but if its not I would say the Tri would be the better option.
