Re: Test post, don't read!

This issue has been investigated by the development team and it seems to be a browser limitation: it uses relative paths when cutting and pasting. Although this does not fully explain how you were able to cut and paste from other areas of the community with success using the same browser.

As a workaround please use the 'Insert Link' button in the WYSIWYG editor. Or I am sure you you have found a solution that best suites your needs.

Followup post, please read!

[ Edited ]

I'm skeptical of this explanation.  If the browser caused the problem it also stands to reason that the problem would be consistently manifested... and this was clearly not the case.

And then there's the 'changed even though untouched' phenomenon mentioned in post #5 in this thread.

Alexis, I just checked the links in post #1 in this thread, and they are *very* funky!  They changed again!!  and I didn't edit the post!!  For instance, the link URL includes the title of this forum thread! (and not just Austin's user page).

UPDATE:  Now post #1 is back to the previous set of links.  Maybe you're working on the problem, Alexis, and I should let you do your magic.  - Bob

I think there is some translation or mapping of links or addresses, and it's not done by the browser.

Re: Followup post, please read!

I think it has more to do with the area in which you are cutting and pasting from. I will have them investigate the 'Friends' module. But it seems like this won't be a "quick fix". Sorry for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, please use the 'Insert Link' from the editor for successful results when inserting a link into a forums post.

As always I will keep you posted on this issue.

Alexis

This would not explain the change in 'click on link' behaviour, for links embedded in a forum post.  If the forum post did not change, how did the 'click on link' result change?

Yes, that is true. That was very 'buggy' and only clearing the cache seemed to fix that issue.
