Can anyone tell me if an ACE file has a better compression rate than a ZIP file?

I read that the ACE format is not very widely used today, even though e-merge claims that it offers better compression ratios and faster compression than the popular ZIP format.

Perhaps, though I think it's less popular than zip because the compression algorithm is proprietary. Anyway, in the context of Xilinx devices, ACE means something completely different and is not related to compression.
