Does anyone know what causes the following error during physical synthesis?
ERROR:../s/MemPool.c: 1711: Cannot allocate 1105000000 bytes, the maximum is 1073741823
This is the second time I've seen this error recently but I have no idea what is causing it.
I am running Planahead 13.2 (64-bit) on Windows 7 with 36 GB ram.

I received the same erro. Any information from Xilinx on this? I have 48GB ram and am running the 64 bit version on redhat linux

Same here, running under ISE 14.1 with lots of free RAM and swap. I suspect @rcingham has it nailed, the 2^30 reeks of a S/W bug...probably in MemPool.c!
Platform was Ubuntu 32bit 10.04LTS

this were fixed in 13.2 (o.42) build. but if you are using the same version in that case you can use the smarell suggestion
