Clip host appears when running ISE/EDK/SDK on Windows 7

Hello,

I have just installed Windows 7 Professional on my computer. Then I installed Xilinx System Edition 13.4 to start working on my Xilinx projects.

When I try executing any of the Xilinx tools (i.e., ISE, SDK, etc) then the "Clip host" application appears and it does not allow me to do anything else.

I have been checking the environment variables for Xilinx, but there's nothing. Anyway, according to Xilinx installation guide there are 2 .bat files (settings32.bat and settings64.bat) which run before any Xilinx tool is called in order to set-up the environment variables. So, I should not worry about environment variables manual setting...

I have uninstalled and re-installed Xilinx tools once already, and the problem is still there.

Regards,

fvazquez

Re: Clip host appears when running ISE/EDK/SDK on Windows 7

Hello,

I have also installed Xilinx System Edition 13.1 on Windows 7 and it works!!! the problem now is that I have several projects created on v13.4, thus, I need v13.4 to work!!! otherwise it can be a nightmare to convert my projects to v13.1...

Re: Clip host appears when running ISE/EDK/SDK on Windows 7

Hello Peter,

Francisco (the guy who opened this topic) was able to resolve the issue. The problem was in the .tar file download (was a corrupt complete download). He checked that his downloaded .tar file had a bad
MD5 checksum value. Once he re-downloaded it, the new installation now works for him.

Peter, have you checked the MD5 checksum of the 13.4 installation files archive?
So, before you untar this file, please check the MD5 Checksum values of your 13.4 file archive before you unzip it. You can get the MD5 Checksum using the md5summer which can be downloaded from www.md5summer.org. Then please compare this value with the value on the download website page for this file (i.e. MD5 Sum Value on the website for ISE_13.4_Win is: 586385ec615a32a8b6091fc84e4362ba). So, if the MD5 Checksum values don't match, then there was corruption caused during the download and you would need to correctly download the file again until the MD5 Sum values are matching;Once the MD5 Checksum values are matching, then extract it again, but use a different extracting tool this time, to what you are using at the moment, using a program such as 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) for example, which can handle large tar files.  Make sure you maintain the file structure while you are doing this. We've seen such issues in the past with other archiving utilities.

Please also note that CentOS Operating System is an unsupported OS for Xilinx tools and this may also be a cause of your problem. For the list of currently supported OSs, please check the following link: http://www.xilinx.com/publications/matrix/Software_matrix.pdf

Anatoli
