ISE design suite installation on virtual machine

Hello,

I just get an ML605 dev board and I'm testing features according to getting started document.

I install ISE design suite on a virtual machine with XP, to allow me to test PCIe with PciTree (that doesn't work on 64 bit OS).

Pci Tree doesn't see ML605 card when I plug it into the host PC.

I'm looking forward reading some news about this if some body has any idea.

Thank's fir your help,

Berst regards

Re: ISE design suite installation on virtual machine

Which virtual machine system are you using?

When it comes to external hardware, most only work with USB devices. The only VM systems I'm aware of that supporthardware passthrough of PCI cards are VMware ESXi and Xen, and only if your computer supports Intel Directed I/O (VT-d).

The most reliable solution will be to dual-boot XP or install the board in a second computer!

Re: ISE design suite installation on virtual machine

We are using Windows virtual PC on a DELL workstation.

We choose this machine because the size of the ML605 board. Our lab machines are to small!

Re: ISE design suite installation on virtual machine

As far as I can tell, Windows Virtual PC doesn't support VT-d and PCI passthrough. Either try your luck with a different product, or leave the case off your computer! :)
