I'm currently using an active node-locked license for ISE 13.3 DS: Logic edition that we activated when we purchased the ML605 Virtex-6 evaluation kit. Now I would like to add a 30-day evaluation license for the Embedded Development Kit (EDK) for this same board to work with the MicroBlaze soft core processor.
However, when I attempted start a 30-day evaluation license from the SDK that was installed as part of ISE 13.3, I was unable to find a way to add just the EDK license. Instead, the Xilinx website kept pointing me back downloading a new copy of ISE 13.4 that would include a 30-day EDK evaluation license.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to add a 30-day EDK evaluation license to an existing ISE 13.3 DS: Logic edition license? Or do I have to download another copy of ISE that already contains the EDK license?
Any help would be appreciated and I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Brad S.

Hello Brad,
If I understood correctly, you are saying that you already have a Logic Edition Node-Locked license on your machine, and now you need to generate a 30-days evaluation license (System Edition, which includes EDK feature), in order to work with MicroBlaze, but you are not sure where to get this license and how/where to install it? If this is what you are trying to say here, then you need to do the following:
To generate a 30-Day Eval license, go to www.xilinx.com\getlicenses and you will be asked then to login, do so and confirm your details by clicking on Next. You will then be on the Product Licensing Page. Here you should see a ISE Design Suite: 30-Day Evaluation, Node-Locked License (if you previously haven’t generated it). And if you see this license in your table, select it and generate the license. The license will be emailed to you then.
Once you receive this license, you should either:
1) Copy the license file to a folder called “.Xilinx” in your home drive, where this license will automatically get picked up from. (If you don’t have a “.Xilinx” folder created in your home drive, then open Xilinx License Configuration Manager (XLCM), go to “Manage Xilinx Licenses” tab and then click on “Copy License…”. It will automatically create this “.Xilinx” folder in your home drive and will paste the license file in to it)
2) Alternatively, you can put the Xilinx.lic file anywhere on your computer and then use either the XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE or LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variables (in XLCM) to point to this location, i.e. "XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE=N:\Xilinx.lic".
If the license is not available either from the Xilinx “Product Licensing” page, and you previously haven’t generated the 30-Day evaluation license, please contact Xilinx Customer Service at eucases@xilinx.com regarding this and they will enable this license for you.
Hope the info above will be useful to you.
Have a nice day.
Best Regards,
Anatoli
