hi, i have a synthesizable vhdl code for an fir filter.with it i want to find the power and efficiency of the designed filter without actually dumping it onto an fpga please help me can i get this using xilinx ise tool?

Hi,
ISE comes with the ISIM simulator and a power estimation tool.
Maybe that's sufficient for your needs.

The XPE spreadsheet at www.xilinx.com/power can give you an estimate of the power consumption for your design or module in the design.
