I'm using Xilinx ISE 10.1 . Sometimes when I close, the project ISE file disappears! I've actually watched it happen in Windows Explorer.
Possibly related, occasionally when I launch the project by clicking on the ISE project file itself (when it is there), I've seen the project open up with all the source files present, then complain that there's no ISE file and that it ought to be there when starting.
Frustrating. What's going on?

I have had my ISE file trashed, but not actually deleted. I have found that certain
applications can interfere with ISE's underlying database engine. Take a look at
this thread:
http://forums.xilinx.com/xlnx/board/message?board.
In my case it was Carbonite backup software, in another case Memeo back up. Others
have found issues with antivirus software. In essence any application that inserts itself
into the file system can interfere. If none of this looks familiar, maybe your operating
system has other incompatibilities. From your post I see you run some form of
Windows... XP? Vista?

Gabor

Gabor, yes, just Win XP Pro. No Carbonite. I'll disable Norton and look for differences.
Anything else?

Brad,
Just be sure to download and install the latest service pack. I think most of my toubles
occured when I was running service pack 1. The latest is sp3.

Gabor
