Hi people,

I plane to buy "CoolRunner™-II Starter Kit " and i wonder - will be possible (in future ) with included cable to programm soldered devices on my board - CoolRunner or XC95xxx ?

Or i must buy other cable?

Hi ,

The cable that comes with the Coolrunner-II Starter board is just a USB cable. The programming ability is built into the board.
So if you have another board you will need another cable. You can find the info on the Xilinx cables here : http://www.xilinx.com/products/design_resources/config_sol/

to my knowledge there is onboard usb microcontroller that is NOT connected to the coolrunner JTAG pins, so I wonder how to built-in on board usb configuratio can be possible?

The Cable is a USB to Mini-USB cable designed to be used with the Export Software (Provided).  You have the choice of using the provided USB cable or using any Standard JTAG interface as the Jtag Header is available also.

NO the supplied cable can not be used.

you need separate JTAG cable.

The USB cable that is provided will only work with this board and no others.   If you want to access JTAG to program the part, you will need a seperate cable, such as the ones listed at:

http://www.xilinx.com/onlinestore/program_solutions.htm#pc

I would suggest the Platform USB, or the Parallel Cable IV(Parallel port on your PC is required)

isnt the cable provided just plain standard USB cable?

so it works with any device that has standard USB connectors?

It's a USB to Mini- USB Cable.  It matches the one that I have for my Digital Camera.
