Windows 7 and the CoolRunner-II CPLD Starter kit

Hello, I'm trying to play with my CoolRunner Starter kit on Windows 7 (Professional, x64, build 7600), but, I can't find any usable drivers for the whole setup. Installing it went very smoothly with my old system (Windows XP, x86), but now I'm stuck. Is there any way I can use the board now? Thanks, David

Re: Windows 7 and the CoolRunner-II CPLD Starter kit

Windows 7 has limited support in ISE 12.1 and will have full support in ISE 13.1

Try 12.1, it should work for you.

Which ISE software version are you using?

I'm using the latest version of Xilinx.

When you find out which version of ISE you are using, please reply.  This is quite a small thing to ask of you, don't you think?

Re: Windows 7 and the CoolRunner-II CPLD Starter kit

The problem that you are having is that you are trying to use the ISE iMPACT software to configure the CPLD using the USB port.

The documentation for the board notes that you need to use the "CoolRunner-II Utility Window software" with the USB cable or an external progamming cable (aka PC-IV or USB-II) and the Xilinx iMPACT software to be able to program the device.

For more information see the Configuration section of the CoolRunner-II Evaluation Board Reference Manual (UG501).

This is Digilent software (not Xilinx).  Try the latest Adept 2.3 software, it may work.
