My design uses the coolrunner II XC2C128, and also includes a PXA270 CPU. I need to be able to re-program the CPLD from the PXA270. The CPLD supplies some essential functions for the PXA270, so I need to use On the Fly (OTF) programming to minimize the disruption to the PXA270 CPU.

Can anyone let me know the protocol required to do OTF when driving the CPLD JTAG lines from a microcontrollers or CPUs GPIO pins. i.e I need to know the sequence of pulses required on these lines to do OTF.

Thanks,

Simon

If your uC is using an SVF player then you select OTF programming in the iMPACT options when creating the SVF file.

Xapp 388 is a good reference for this: http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp388.pdf

Thanks Sandrao.

Can you recommend a good source for an SVF player? C or C++ code would be the preferred programming language.

Thanks,

Simon
