Flash memory issue in ZYNQ

Hello,

I faced a flash issue on our ZYNQ custom hardware board. A firmware (MCS file) was flashed on to the hardware and functionality was verified. There was no booting issue and this firmware was tested regressively. After 3 years later we used the same hardware to check the firmware functionality again and to our surprise, the booting itself is getting failed. Neither initialization prints are visible on the UART nor the firmware functionality was present.

We tried to reflash the same firmware and found that everything is working back again.

What could be the reason for such behaviour? Can we suspect the corruption of flash memory because of some random power fluctuation that might have happened for some reason? Please help me to know the possibilities or causes for such a problem.

Thank you in advance.

@msriharirao ,

Yes, your understand is correct.

Since MCS File was present in flash for over 3 years, due to PVT Variations, MCS File inside flash got corrupted and hence didnt boot.
