Image Search CRC

Jump to solution

Hello,

When studying the documentations on the various SoC chips (e.g. the Zynq-7000 on the ZC706 Eval Board) I read through the chapter explaining the image search algorithm of the BootROM a couple times. Even though it claims to be "fail-safe", in my opinion, it is not (at least not fully).

I understand that each image has a CRC for the header which is checked by the image search algorithm. But there seems to be no CRC (or anything similar) for the code-part of the image.

Do I understand correctly, that there is only the header CRC but no CRC for the code-part of the image?

In zynq-7000 for a fail-safe scenario I reccomned to use the RSA authentication to detect any possible bit flip in the image.
