FFT IP Core 8bit unsigned input

Hi,

Input data of FFT IP needs to be fix8_7 and in the range -1<=Xre<1. Or it should be s.fffffff format. The time domain data is coming from 8bit ADC in our case. Making a divide with 255, i can normalize the data to (0,1) range. But only changing IP Core settings, without using an extra division operator, is it possible to connect 8bit ADC output directly to FFT input?

dividing by 256 ?
just drop the bottom 8 bits.

why division of 255 not 256 ?

Yes, it should be 256 for [0,1) not 255. This is my mistake.
