DMA_TO_DEVICE and DEVICE_TO_DMA

Just wanted to express how disgraceful these terms are. For:

1 - DMA is neither a source or destination of data but a mechanism by which data is transferred from a place to another.

2 - DEVICE is ambiguous. Anything can be a device. A memory is a device that holds data, a processor is a device the executes programs, and so on.

Re: DMA_TO_DEVICE and DEVICE_TO_DMA

Hi @satguy

I suspect these are signals in one of our IP that you believe could be more efficiently be named. Can you specify what IP these are from and do you have a suggestion on names that you believe would be more appropriate?

Don’t forget to reply, kudo, and accept as solution.

Re: DMA_TO_DEVICE and DEVICE_TO_DMA

These appear in SDK when using AXI4 DMA IP. I'd suggest MM_TO_STR and STR_TO_MM (Memory mapped to Stream and Stream to Memory mapped).
