element14 and the Path to Programmable

element14 is an online community that provides helpful tips and support for your latest project challenge. The community comprises engineers, manufacturers, innovators, and top experts who discuss technical challenges and products. They launched their professional development training project about a year ago after hearing members discuss the challenges of designing with PLDs—especially the steep learning curve. One of their latest projects, the Path to Programmable, trains five element14 members, who will, in turn, blog about their learning experiences—allowing others to more easily develop projects using programmable devices. The trainees are provided with free FPGA/SoC training modules and lab exercises and will then build a project with the Avnet MiniZed™ development board.

 

Path to Programmable Professional Development Training

The Path to Programmable is a professional development training project sponsored by Xilinx in conjunction with the element14 Community. element14 members who submit applications are competing to receive FPGA/SoC training only. The deadline for application submissions is 27 August 2018. The course has two modules:

 

Module 1: Developing Zynq® SoC Hardware covers the complete hardware development flow using Vivado® IP integrator to build an embedded processing solution with custom IP.

 

Module 2: Developing Zynq SoC Software explores using Xilinx SDK to write and debug applications for the custom processor built in Module 1. Additionally, this module demonstrates how to use interrupts to show real-time response and deterministic processing.
