Problems with the bitstream encryption

Jump to solution

Hello, I want to encrypt bitstream with simplest project using the AES-256 as described in the document XAPP1239. I work with ZC706 board. But, when I try to set parameters in Vivado 2016.1:

set_property  BITSTREAM.ENCRYPTION.ENCRYPT YES [current_design]
set_property BITSTREAM.ENCRYPTION.ENCRYPTKEYSELECT BBRAM [current_design]
set_property BITSTREAM.ENCRYPTION.KEY0 256'h12345678ABCDDCBA1234578ABCDDCBA1234578ABCDDCBA1234578ABCDDCBA [current_design]

I got an error message:

ERROR: [Common 17-107] Cannot change read-only property 'BITSTREAM.ENCRYPTION.ENCRYPT'.
Resolution: Please refer to Vivado Properties Reference Guide (UG912) for more information on setting properties.

Also in "Edit Device Properties" no item "Encryption" and "Readback" like in page 52 of UG908 (v2016.2) June 8, 2016 (see attachments).

So what's the problem, or do I need a special license?

Regards, Andrew

P.S. Work with ZC706, Vivado 2016.1

I face the same issue as depicted above: The "Encryption" entry is missing in the Device Properties.

Vivado 2016.2, XC7Z030

I have an existing and running design with logic in PL and SW (bare metal) running on the PS (CPU0). Due to some reasons I want to run the PS with secure boot; I have to use eFuse, because the custom HW is already finalized.

Once using secure boot for PS, I had the idea to encrypt the .bit file as well. But while playing around I got already stuck at the very beginning.

Any help appreciated :-)
