Read temperature for individual SLR through JTAG

Jump to solution

I was expecting to get multiple sysmon objects from get_hw_sysmons for a VU9P, but I'm only getting a list of one.  Is there another way to read temperatures from each SLR of a chip? Thanks,

Hi @asi_ka,

I2C DRP and JTAG DRP access is limited to the SYSMON located in the master SLR only.

Thanks

Simon

Hi @asi_ka

Following are the steps  to access the SLR temperature registers.

1. Enable Slave SYSMONs through Wizard .

1.PNG

2. Select DRP or AXI4lite interface .

     For DRP  sysmon_slave_sel[1:0] decides the master or slave SYSMON to access the DRP and control signal.

     i.e  sysmon_slave_sel[1:0]   =   00  -> Master SYSMON

                                                  =   01 -> Slave 0 SYSMON

                                                  =   10 -> Slave 0 SYSMON

3. Enable the Temperature Channel for slaves.2.PNG

 4. Read address ''00h"  [The result of on chip temperature sensor measurement register is stored in thus location]

     Then ,You can convert the register value to the temperature in deg C using the transfer function on page 40 of User guide 580

     https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug580-ultrascale-sysmon.pdf

thank you very much for the thorough answer, however this is the way to read the temperatures from within the fpga.

I was wondering if there's a way to read SLR temperatures through JTAG, so even when I don't have a responsive design running on the chip I can read the temps out.

Here's what I do right now which only gives me one temperature reading:

open_hw
connect_hw_server

set targets [get_hw_targets]
foreach target $targets {
        open_hw_target $target
        get_property TEMPERATURE [get_hw_sysmons]
        close_hw_target
}

Cheers,
