AXI stream FIFO two inputs: AXI and AXI FULL connect both or leave one unconnected

Jump to solution

When I configure the AXI Stream FIFO IP module to support the full AXI4 protocol (not AXI4 Lite), the second "AXI Full" input appears to it, but the old AXI input does not disappear. Now the module has two AXI input interfaces and Vivado suggests to auto-connect them.

But if I connect them both, which one would be used? And should I? Is it OK to leave the AXI Lite input unconnected if I want to use the full interface?

The AXI-Lite interface is still needed to access the configuration registers and the interrupt functions within the IP. You need to connect it

The full, burstable AXI-4 interface allows you to more quickly move data into and out of the internal FIFOs. It doesn't allow access to the other mechanisms inside the IP.
