Coregen 12.1 crashes when opened.

Hi

As soon as I open Coregen (ISE 12.1, Windows XP 32bit) it immediately crashes... I tried launching it from command prompt with the -ddd switches but to no avail.

It simply gives: _cg.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I also tried -help to see if I can get any more possible switches that could customize the startup but it also crashes.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jaco

If you haven't already tried this, the first and easiest remedy to try is re-installing the tools - in case a file was corrupted.  You may wish to consider updating to 12.4, if you'll be re-installing anyway.  In my experience, re-installing the tools (from 12.x to 12.x) does not wipe out your project settings, so it's (much!) less disruptive than re-installing Windows.

If you still have the problem after doing a re-install,  check out the forum post / thread at: http://forums.xilinx.com/t5/Design-Entry/Coregen-Webpack-12-2-won-t-run/m-p/84868#M1450

The thread has several steps to the trouble shooting but running Dependancy Walker is usually the best way to get to the heart of the issue.
