[Coregen][selectIO] Failed executing Tcl generator.

Hi,

I use ISE 13.2 under linux and i want to generate deserialization structure using selectIO in coregen.

But when I double clic on «selectIO Interface Wizard» option I've got this following error in popup :

The following error occurred: Failed to generate 'selectio_wiz_v3_2'. Failed executing Tcl generator.

And this error in TCL console :

ERROR:sim - Unable to evaluate Tcl file:

/opt/Xilinx/13.2/ISE_DS/ISE/coregen/repository/xilinx.com/generators/customization_generator_v1_0.tcl

ERROR:sim - Failed executing Tcl generator.

Is somebody know this error ?

Thanks

Which linux? Some are supported, but not all...

similar case:clock wizard fails with "Unable to evaluate Tcl file"

software versions: ISE 14.6 on Debian 7.1

solution: edit "settings32.sh" and add xxx/14.6/ISE_DS/ISE/sysgen/lib/lin/ to LD_LIBRARY_PATH , where 'xxx' is the path of your local Xilinx installation

debug method used: run 'strace -f ise 2>/tmp/log' and find 'SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault)' line of child process, replace ISE_DS/ISE/bin/lin/_ipguilauncher by shell script to get commandline arguments, run _ipguilauncher in gdb, notice "0xb1a2b2e5 in QFontPrivate::~QFontPrivate() () from /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libQtGui.so.4", look for Xilinx supplied libQtGui , set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to include Xilinx shared lib, - eh voila. Rather easy, really...

conclusions:

a) Xilinx faces a problem with the vatious shared lib versions, ok, that's understood, shared libs can be a notoroius headache. However, Xilinx might just have looked into this old posting and figure this out themself, IMHO. Saying "not a supported distribution" is missing the point. Other binaries (think Firefox et al) work on different Linux distros too.

b) logging a bit more information will ease life for everyone. Not checking for failure of a child process is sub-optimal C coding. As others have already noticed, the error message is misleading.

c) When leaving the Xilinx namespace, e.g. when calling an installed browser from within a XIlinx tool, the calling program *must* reset the Xilinx specific LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. Otherwise the non-Xilinx programs won't work.

thanks for comments if someone from Xilinx reads this,

best, Peter

hello trogly

I'm getting the same on 14.7 on unsupported Gentoo, I tried your ld library path but it hasn't worked.

I start coregen new project block memory generator and when I click on customise and generate I get the failed executing Tcl generator, this is in the shell:

WARNING:coreutil - couldn't open

ERROR:sim - Failed executing Tcl generator.

 There is a xil2.in in that directory :) .

Any help out there?

Thanks.
