Floating point adder IP core

Jump to solution

Hi,

How to use floating point adder-IP Core in my projects?  I want to have a design in which mantissa part is 18 bits and exponent in 4 bits. I am using Xilinx ISE Project Navigator 14.7.

Thank you

Hi,

you have to configuure the core using the Coregen tool.

It will start automatically once you add an IP-Core to your ISE project.

There are HDL files provided to instantiate the generated core in your design and use it in simulations too.

See the ISE documentation for details about adding IP-cores and how to use Coregen etc.

Have a nice synthesis

Yes, you can use the Floating Point Operator core which supports custom precision floating point types.

Hi,

Thank you  I was just checking 'Adders & Subractors' option in Math functions in Select IP window. Just now I found the existance of 'Floating point' option under the same Math functions.

My self being a beginner, do you have any tip for me to write a optimized code, use XILINX ISE 14.7 in best way. Can you direct me to some links?  I find the link http://www.xilinx.com/training/free-video-courses.htm to be too much for me at this level.

Thank you
