How to start with Vivado in Linux

Hello,

Can someone provide me a link how to start with Vivado on Ubuntu.

The launcher is in /tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2020.1/bin

It's is not visible out of this location. Probably should I modify some configuration files

Moreover is there a way to put Vivado icon on Favorites ?

Thanks in advance.

Pavel.

Google for  "ubuntu create launcher icon" and you will get about a thousand solutions, maybe 200 of them for your specific release, and possibly a hundred of them not working or badly explained. It's how it is.

There are even videos that show you in 20 minutes what can be written in 2, but writing and reading seems to be highly intellectual activities nowadays.

Running

source /tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2020.1/settings64.sh

fixes the issue with launching Vivado from everywhere

It is good that it is running

Alternate method:) if you want

Instead of using every time source command you can add that command in bashrc file

vi ~/.bashrc or gvim ~/.bashrc

source /tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2020.1/settings64.sh

save the bashrc file

source ~/.bashrc

After that you can directly use

vivado

This command it worked for me.
Enjoy your day.

Pavan

The suggestion for running `settings64.sh` is reflected in the note on page 9 of UG893 Using the Vivado IDE:

TIP:To add the Vivado tools path to your current shell/command prompt, run settings64.bat or settings64.sh from the <install_path>/Vivado/<version> directory.
