Vivado Desing Suite 2018.3 does not launch

Jump to solution

Hi,
I have been using Vivado Desing Suite 2018.3 for some time without any problem. Today I tried to open it and an error appears: ''Error when launching....Laucher time out''. I started looking for information in the forum, I saw that several people had the same problem but with another version of Vivado due to some update of Windows 10 (I have Win10). I tried to follow the provided solutions, but they don´t work with Vivado 2018 and I cannot solve the problem. I cannot open Vivado.
Thank in advance.

Hi @xilinxacct,

This error usually occurs when one of the system files that Vivado uses gets corrupted or deleted accidentally. At the time of installation Vivado installs all the files and libraries it requires. Try reinstalling Vivado, it should probably resolve the issue, at the time of installation select yes whenver the installer askes for installing/replacing any 3rd party library (ex Microsoft redistributables).Let us know if the issue persists. Share the OS build information (search for "about me" in the search panel and share the screenshot ).

If this is still a problem for you, I have seen sometime you can apply the windows patches, and reboot... and then Vivado may launch successfully.

Hope that Helps
If so, Please mark as solution accepted. Kudos also welcomed. :-)

Hi, I updated Windows and I still couldn't open Vivado. However, after that, I reinstalled Vivado and the problem was resolved. Thank you very much for your help :)
