Vivado Lab 2020.3: Issue in installation on Ubuntu 20.10 - GUI stuck after message "start_gui" on terminal.

Jump to solution

I have downloaded this version of Vivado: Vivado 2020.3: Lab Edition - Linux  MD5 SUM Value : 005f1e8f8d494376dee1fc99fc575933. When I am running the vivado_lab command located at /tools/Xilinx/Vivado_Lab/2020.3/bin/vivado_lab, a new GUI window is popping up, and getting stuck. Nothing is happening after that. How can I get this running? What am I doing wrong?

I am using Ubuntu 20.10. Earlier I tried with the 2018.03 version of this software but it gave installation errors so I upgraded to 2020.3

This is a screenshot of my screen after running the command at /tools/Xilinx/Vivado_Lab/2020.3/bin/vivado_lab :

Update:

From the User Guide, I see that Ubuntu versions supported are:

Ubuntu Linux 16.04.5, 16.04.6, 18.04.1, 18.04.2, 18.04.3, and 18.04.4 LTS (64-bit)

But I am using Ubuntu 20.10. How can I get the setup running on my version or Ubuntu or what else is the solution?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @chinmayc ,

Ubuntu 20.10 is not supported OS as mentioned in UG973 pg9 .

Also important information regarding Vivado 2020.3 :
" For customers using Versal devices, Xilinx recommends installing Vivado 2020.3.  For other devices, please continue       to use Vivado 2020.2. "

Thanks,
Kuldeep
