"private" HDL parameters?

Jump to solution

When a Verilog/ VHDL function is dropped into a block diagram, its parameters can be set by double clicking in the block, which is very convenient.

But I have some parameters that are not meant to be changed, can I prevent some parameters from appearing in the block configuration window?

(Disclosure, I don't use the Xilinx "block diagram" tool...)

You're describing, I think, a localparam - a parameter which is not meant to be overridden. It can be constant, or a function of other (perhaps overridden) parameter values.  But it may not be overidden itself.  Perhaps just changing your parameters to localparams will convince the BD tool to not show the values in the configuration window?

Mark
