Critical Warning Help

Jump to solution

I have a Partial Reconfiguration project and I am receiving a Critical Warnings.

Here is one of them.

[Constraints 18-5245] Constraint "set_multicycle_path" references netlist elements which are both inside and outside the cell referred to by the -cell option. These references will be lost if the cell is made into a black box. It is highly recommended that you rewrite your constraints so that they don't refer to objects both inside and outside the cell. ["/home/paul.sand/Desktop/myprojects/vivado_projects/ir42/ir42_2019_pr/cots_wffpga/cots_wffpga.srcs/constrs_1/imports/constraints/vcu118_rev1.1_12052016.xdc":124]

The constraints at lines 123 and 124 are:

set_multicycle_path -setup -from [get_pins {Ulink16corewrapper/ulink16core/UCntrlRegs/*/C}] -to [get_pins {UMhalRF/*/WfDataReg_reg[*]/D}] 3

set_multicycle_path -hold -end -from [get_pins {Ulink16corewrapper/ulink16core/UCntrlRegs/*/C}] -to [get_pins {UMhalRF/*/WfDataReg_reg[*]/D}] 2

The wrapper instantiates the Partial Reconfiguration module.

What does this Critical Warning mean and how do I correct it?

I don't understand the "inside and outside the cell."

Thanks,

Swimteam

Hi, @swimteam ,

It looks for your set_multi_cycle_path constraint, the source endpoint and destination endpoint of the constraints are in static region and dynamic region respectively.

The warning is just to reminder you that when the RM(reconfigurable module) is updated (changed to other RM function or blackbox), the endpoint of the constraint in dynamic region will be lost and the contraints will not work again.

For you, when you update the RM, the constraints should be re-applied to confirm the cell in constraint existing in the RM logic.
