How about the following command ?
% file TOP.bit
TOP.bit: Xilinx BIT data - from TOP;UserID=0XFFFFFFFF;CO - for S=TRUE;Version=2015.4 - built AAAAAA(2017/09/11) - data length 0x********
"file" command is useful to confirm header information on linux.

I'm using CentOS 6.9. I can see more detail information via /usr/bin/file on CentOS 6.9.
Also, I try to confirm the result of "file" on Bash on Ubuntu on Windows.
The result is same as CentOS.
Could you try it on Bash On Ubuntu on Windows ?
