How to debug multiple ila cores simultaneously in a single ChipScope design?

Hi,

There're 2 groups of icon/ila cores in a single project, with icon cores' Boundary Scan Chain selected USER1 and USER2 respectively.
Open ChipScope 14.7 then program the generated .bit file, only one ila core can be seen.
Is it possible to debug two ila cores simultaneously?
What should I do to make the ChipSope display 2 ila cores?
Regards.

Re: How to debug multiple ila cores simultaneously in a single ChipScope design?

Hi @suyiwen1991,

The issue is that you have created two ICON cores, and you can't access multiple ICON cores since they each use a BSCAN block. Only one BSCAN can be accessed at a time via JTAG.

In your case, you can create just one ICON core and have multiple ILA cores connect to it, by generating an ICON core with multiple CONTROL ports (one CONTROL port per ILA instance).

According to the document LogiCORE IP ChipScope Pro Integrated Controller (ICON)  - DS646, "The ICON core provides an interface between the ChipScope Pro Analyzer tool and up to 15 ChipScope Pro target cores (such as ILA, IBA, VIO, and ATC2)".
