Is OpenCores dysfunctional ? svn commit fails - emails to oc-team@opencores.org bounce

Jump to solution

Hi,

maybe a bit of topic here, but simply consider 'opencores.org' as a design tool, in the widest sense.

I try since October 2nd to commit to a repository, get

svn: E000013: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: E000013: Can't open file '/svn/w11/db/txn-current-lock': Permission denied

When I try to communicate to oc-team@opencores.org the email bounces with

Remote-MTA: dns; mail.opencores.org
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 451 4.3.0 <oc-team@opencores.org>: Temporary lookup failure

The website opencores.org is available but at times quite slow, when looking at "Last updated projects" I see no svn update after September 30th.

Do others have the same problems ?

Is OpenCores falling apart ?

    With best regards,  Walter

Re: Is OpenCores dysfunctional ? --> OpenCores up again, just moved to new servers

Jump to solution

Hi,

got this morning an email from the open cores team, stating

We have done a significant LAMP system upgrade and also moved the servers
into "the cloud", which caused several problems. We are now working hard
to try and fix all these problems, but SVN should now work again, so please
   test again.

Indeed, the website as well as the svn service is up an running again. In same (old) look.

A quick check with traceroute and whois gave

        traceroute opencores.org
.... 15 205.251.230.127 (205.251.230.127) 205.734 ms ... whois 205.251.230.127
... NetRange: 205.251.192.0 - 205.251.255.255 CIDR: 205.251.192.0/18 NetName: AMAZON-05 NetHandle: NET-205-251-192-0-1 Parent: NET205 (NET-205-0-0-0-0) OrgName: Amazon.com, Inc. OrgId: AMAZON-4

so very obviously opencores was moved to Amazon servers.

The transition phase, where it was redirected for GitHub, was obviously only 'short term parking'.

Re: Is OpenCores dysfunctional ? svn commit fails - emails to oc-team@opencores.org bounce

Hi,

also plain 'svn co' is broken. I tried to checkout two different opencores projects and from three systems at physically different places where I have computing accounts. Summary is

Location svn-version result

Private 1.8.8 fails with 504 'Gateway Time-out'
Institute 1 1.6.17 slow, no error, but sometimes incomplete checkout
Institute 2 1.6.11 slow, no error

It is unclear to me whether the different svn versions play an essential role, in the past at least this worked.

With best regards, Walter

Re: Is OpenCores dysfunctional ? --> OpenCores apparently migrating to GitHub

Jump to solution

It seems that OpenCores is being migrated to GitHub.

Accessing http://www.opencores.org/ gives right now

OpenCores is down due to maintenance!
We are working on resolving the problem as soon as possible.

Accessing a project page, like http://www.opencores.org/project,w11 is more revealing, it gives

    404 File not found
The site configured at this address does not contain the requested file.
Read the full documentation for more information about using GitHub Pages.

and doing a ping to www.opencores.org gives

    PING www.opencores.org (192.30.252.153) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from pages.github.com (192.30.252.153): icmp_req=1 ttl=53 time=87.7 ms
    64 bytes from pages.github.com (192.30.252.153): icmp_req=2 ttl=53 time=87.7 ms

So it might be that the ailing of OpenCores comes to an end and better days are coming.
