Lab tool to program flash with First Stage Bootloader

Jump to solution

I have developed a hardware/software project (using Vivado / SDK 2016.1) for use on the Kintex KC-705 development kit.  The project uses a first stage bootloader that operates in tandem with a microblaze processor to boot my software on power-up.  I usually use the SDK software to program the flash via the 'Xilinx Tools => Program Flash' dialog box.  Here I can specify the Image File and Offset at which to place my programs in flash.  (I also have to specify the Hardware Platform during this process as well).

Now, I would like to send these programming files to a customer so they can implement the same program on their hardware.  However, I would prefer not to share the entire project.  I downloaded the Vivado Lab Edition software - but the programming capability through the Hardware Manager does not seem to provide the ability to program the flash with different files at different offsets within the device.

My question:  Is there a software tool that will allow my customer to perform this programming if I provide them with just the bitstream and .elf file needed for auto-bootup?

I think write_cfgmem and program_hw_cfgmem commands provide what you are looking for. Refer to the Vivado Tcl Command Reference Guide (UG835).

@randyh, thank you. I was able to use the write_cfgmem command and using the -loadbit option to specify the bitstream file and memory location along with the -loaddata option to specify the .srec version of the software I wanted to run (and its memory offset location) as specified in my FSBL project. This created the .mcs (and .prm) files I needed to program the PROM device directly.
