Boot command for u-boot v2018.2

Jump to solution

I'm following an instruction to build u-boot for my zedboard. The instruction is based on 2015.4, and it defines CONFIG_BOOTCOMMAND in include/configs/zynq-common.h. I'm using 2018.2, in which CONFIG_BOOTCOMMAND has been removed from zynq-common.h, then how can I define the boot command?

Hi @fiedel,

If you are using Petalinux environment then you can find platform-auto.h.

you can refer below wiki on how to build u-boot. You can check in zynq_zc702_defconfig BOOTCOMMAND is defined

Hi @fiedel,

The organization of code is changed from previous to v2018.2.

you can define boot command in below mentioned file.

<petalinux project>/project-spec/meta-plnx-generated/recipes-bsp/u-boot/configs/platform-auto.h

Thanks & Regards,

Kranthi

Thank you @gudishak.

I got the code from https://github.com/Xilinx/u-boot-xlnx but I didn't find platform-auto.h in configs/. Are you referring to another repository?

In README at the root directory of this repository, it still says CONFIG_BOOTCOMMAND is to be defined in include/configs/<board_name>.h. So my addition question is: how to follow up with the version changes? Are there documentations contains detailed description how to config/build u-boot?

Hi @gudishak

I'm using zedboard+Debian, but I did find zynq_zed_defconfig in u-boot-xlnx/configs/. Thanks.
