Can we use threads in microblaze c programing ? Is it supported threads ?

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I want to use threads in microblaze program. Is it possible to use threads?. Because while studying the BSP documentation, they said like RTOS and threads are not supported by this driver.

Thanks in advance.

In bare-metal, no. There's nothing to manage thread scheduling.

Most of the operating systems that support Microblaze (eg. Petalinux) will support threading. However, some drivers may not work under an OS (or with threading). An obvious example would be bit-banging serial data, where you really need absolutely precise timing (and cannot accept being interrupted by another thread at any point).
