Cross Compiler for Cortex-A53 & Cortex-R5

I have couple of questions related to Cross Compilers. I can see in this page list of Cross Compiler binaries and usage of each binary.

- For Cortex A53 processor, If I want to build Bare-metal application, shall I use "aarch64-none" only?. i.e. can't I use "aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc"?

- For Cortex-R5 processor, only bare-metal binaries are available. Does it mean that we can't compile Linux kernel for Cortex-R5 (i.e. can't we run Linux on R5 processor)?

Thanks in Advance

Hi @moibrahim

yes should use this aarch64-none" toolchian only for baremetal application. & for linux application you can use  aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc  toolchian.

You cannot run the Linux kernel on R5. It is only for standalone or RTOS purpose.

Thanks & regards

Aravind
