Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel ,

Can you please tell us what exact OS are you seeing this crash on? Also, is it a 32 or 64-bit OS? Thanks in advance.

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel ,

Can you try reopening the tool after removing ~/.Xilinx folder?

Do you see the same behavior this time? Can you confirm on this please? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean to remove the C:\Xilinix folder?

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel ,

By saying the ~/.Xilinx, I mean C:\Users\<user_name>\.Xilinx  (i.e. there is a dot before 'Xilinx') folder, and not an actual C:\Xilinix folder.

Please delete this and check the behaviour then.

Hope this helps.

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

I deleted the .Xilinx folder and the problem is same. Can you take a look at the attached LOG file and fins the root cause for this issue. It is already 1.5 weeks of the Evaluation period with no progress.

Thanks

Mati

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel,

From the log file looks like the Java version is getting picked up wrongly. Could you please try starting the sdx as follows:

C:\XilinxSDx\SDx\2019.1\bin>sdx.bat -eclipseArgs -vm c:\XilinxSDx\SDx\2019.1\tps\win64\jre9.0.4\bin

(Here my install location is C:\XilinxSDx)

Please share the log file of the launch with the above command.

Hope this helps.

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

There is some good news but it is really strange. I just double clicked on the SDx.bat file icon I did not put any of the other parameters that you mentioned and it is now working!!!. So seems like the SDx ICON is running somethinmg in different way. How can we resolve this issue such that I can start the SDx from the Windoiws ICON?

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel ,

When you double click on this icon, normally sdx.vbs script is called from the C:\Xilinx\SDx\2019.1\bin folder, which is the same location as your sdx.bat file.

If you right click click on the ICON, do you see the target set similar to what i have set shown below?

SDx.PNG

If you edit this file, here you can see that "sdx.bat" is getting called once this script is called, e.g.:

SDx2.PNG

Do you see the same in your case?

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Yes I see the same the only different is that it is on Networked Drive location and not local C:\ drive.

So I see this when I right click on the ICON

\\frazzled\eng\Tools\Xilinx\SDx\2019.1\bin\sdx.vbs.

When I edit the files I see that

Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
WshShell.Run chr(34) & "sdx.bat" & chr(34), 0
Set WshShell = Nothing

So why running from the ICON failed???

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel ,

You'd need to do the Map Network Drive for this of this folder "\\frazzled\eng\Tools" to a e.g. Z: drive and then, in the ICON property set this to Z:\Xilinx\SDx\2019.1\bin\sdx.vbs.

SDx3.PNG

See if this works for you, as i have a feeling, the \\ in the path isn't letting you to reach this directory, so formatting of the path is why it is most likely failing.

In my case, on my Win 7 OS, ICON is set to C:\Xilinx\SDx\2019.1\bin\sdx.vbs and all works fine that way. Therefore, please map a drive first to this "\\frazzled\eng\Tools" network location and then see if all is OK this time or not?

Hope this helps.

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

YES!!! the problem was solved with your Q drive suggestion. Now I have the question that I also noticed that the general puropsoe *.h include files are not found by the tool. These are the first 3 include files in this list. Is this realted or this is different issue?

#include <iostream>
#include <cstdio>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include "vector_addition.h"
#include "sds_utils.h"

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

The Issue with the Include file \s were corrected after I edited the *.bat files the setting64.bat is running. It looks like the best way to clean this up is to Uninstall and Install back the SDx with the Q: drive specifying the install location. I see this Problems now when I build

Description Resource Path Location Type
make: *** [makefile:36: sd_card] Error 1 Debug /app_example_1_system C/C++ Problem
make: *** [makefile:40: all] Error 2 Debug /app_example_1 C/C++ Problem
make[1]: *** [src/subdir.mk:23: src/main.o] Error 1 Debug /app_example_1 C/C++ Problem
SdsCompiler 83-5004: Build failed Debug /app_example_1 C/C++ Problem
SdsCompiler 83-5019: Exiting sds++ : Error when calling 'arm-linux-gnueabihf-g++ -Wall -O0 -g ' Debug /app_example_1 C/C++ Problem

Any idea?

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

Hello @matifrenkel ,

Yes, indeed, editing .bat file or any other file isn't guaranteed that somewhere on the line you may not see some random failures. As you can see in your case, it is producing an error. Therefore, indeed, the best and quickest approach in this case would be fully uninstalling your current SDx version and get this then re-installed in your C: or perhaps Q: mapped drive.

Please give this a try and see if all is working fine for you then?

Hope this helps.

Re: SDx Crashes during Eclips Opening stage

I Uninstalled the SDx and Installed back with the Q:. It is now working no problem with the SDx ICON. The Build for Hardware and Emulation of the Vector Add example was successful. However, when I run Emulation I see these issues. The Setup is for A53_Standalone. Any idea what might be the issue?
