UART with Zybo Dev Board

Jump to solution

I am trying to send data to a CPU using UART. I have exported Zynq periferals (UART) to PMOD connectors of the ZedBoard but I am not sure how to proceed! I have been trying to find a tutorial that walks you through how to use UART with this board but I cant find anything. Any help would be appreciated as I am really lost.

Hi @jessekotsch,

Make sure your hardware PS UART /AXI UART is routed to PMOD with appropriate pin constraints.

Once that is up and ready in system.mss of BSP you will see the UART IP listed. Later, create application based on use https://github.com/Digilent/ZYBO/blob/master/Projects/sdsoc/sdk/hello/src/helloworld.c to execute on UART IP to verify if it works.

Regards

Praveen

How do you verify that it works? Is there software I need on my computer to be able to read what is outputted using UART? This is the tutorial that I went through and I am lost as to what to do next since the tutorial just ends.
