Re: Xilinx Cable Driver problem

I had one lab computer that had no trouble talking to the Platform Cable USB II,  It was using windrvr6.sys  Version 10.21

dated 6/21/2011.   The PC that was not working had windrvr6.sys  dated in 2014.

This file is found in windows/system32/drivers       directory.to replace the file with the older file.  went to

the working computer copied the file to prepare to overwrite the unworking version.

I needed to go to device manager and disable the Jungo device temporarily since it was using the file when windows is up and

running preventing me from overwriting the file.  After temporarily disabling the drive in device manager, I was able to overwrite the file.

After file was overwritten with the older file.  I enable Jungo device software in device manager.

then I could talk to the Program cable usb 2 using impact.

I should have mentioned I am using Windows 10 and 64 bit software both 14.7 and 13.2 versions of ISE.

See if installing the driver manually fixes the problem?

Re: Xilinx Cable Driver problem

Hi @golson

Try these steps:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator
  2. Navigate to C:\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\ISE\bin\nt64
  3. Open the folder: C:\Windows\System32\drivers
  4. Rename the windrvr6.sys to windrvr6.sys_old
  5. In Command Prompt, run the following commands:
    • wdreg -inf %cd%\windrvr6.inf uninstall
    • wdreg -inf %cd%\windrvr6.inf install
  6. Now verify whether a new windrvr6.sys file is created in the folder: C:\Windows\System32\drivers
  7. Now run iMPACT and try connecting the board using the cable.

Thanks,

Vinay

Thank You both for the responses.

I did the procedure pointed out above.

Seems like the windriv6 is at date 10/26/2014 as before.

Maybe I need to install a later version of the tools.  I am running 13.2 because of constraints here at work.

Met this "cable not detected" problem on Dell Latitude E6440 Windows 7 64-bit.

For me, neither Lab Tools 14.7 nor Vivado Lab 2016.2 are able to detect the DLC10 cable when new windrvr6.sys driver is in place.
(even though the Device Manager shows no problems with attached USB devices, and yellow/green LED on DLC10 is on).

windrvr6.sys version 11.7 --> cable not detected
windrvr6.sys version 10.21 - OK

This changed the driver version in the device manager from 11.7 to 10.21 as martincz also told.

Re: Xilinx Cable Driver problem

I have this same issue using Impact 13.2 and the USB platform II pod. It will work with windrvr6.sys v 10.21 but not 11.7

Is this the official position of Xilinx? They don't support windrvr6.sys V 11.7, with any version of their software.

My issue is that I have another pod in my system from P&E Micro that only works with windrvr6.sys v 11.7 and won't work with 10.21
