2020.2: Version control of kernel config

Jump to solution

I'm wondering how to get the kernel configs into version control in 2020.2?

A folder project-spec/meta-user/recipes-kernel does not exist.

When I do a

petalinx-config -c kernel

then the kernel-configs are just stored in a folder which is not an option to include it into version control...

In 2020.2 what ever changes done in 'petalinux-config -c kernel' those will store in <project-dir>/components/yocto/workspace/sources/linux-xlnx" directory. To add this configs into meta-user/recipies-kernel run the 'petalinux-devtool finish linux-xlnx <project-dir>/project-spec/meta-user -f' so that the version control will work on repo.

Check the https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx2020_2/ug1144-petalinux-tools-reference-guide.pdf#page=178 more option on petalinux-devtool command.

Hi @bjoern79de

You will have version control over the petalinux project files as listed here:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx2020_2/ug1144-petalinux-tools-reference-guide.pdf#page=23

That's exactly what I've tried. But all kernel modules I've selected using "petalinux-config -c kernel" are lost when I get a fresh working copy of the repository!
