Boot BlueCat Linux From flash using the V5FX30T evaluation board from AVNET

Hello,

I need to boot my BlueCat Linux kernel image from flash but I don't know how to make my own flashfiles and my own bootloader.

Do you have some tips for me.

My target board is from AVNET (V5FX30T evaluationboard)

Best regards,

Marco

Re: Boot BlueCat Linux From flash using the V5FX30T evaluation board from AVNET

The .kdi files that BlueCat generates are monolithic binary blobs -- very easy to relocate from flash.  So something very like the procedure outlined in XAPP1140

www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp1140.pdf

will work for you.  Some modification on your part will be needed since XAPP1140 expects to start with an ELF file, which .kdi images are not.

Re: Boot BlueCat Linux From flash using the V5FX30T evaluation board from AVNET

Hello,

Thanks for your answer. Is XAPP1106 not better to use for me!

My main question is: How can I build flash files such as done in UG486 for the Spartan3A board

And how can I make my own bootloader.

At this moment I am a newbie!

I've seen in UG486, there are three files!

 1. s3adsp_devl_kit_demo.kdi                (7MB)

 2. s3adsp_devl_kit_demo_flash.jffs2    (7,5MB)

 3. s3adsp_devl_kit_demo_flash.kdi      (700KB)

I can build the first file using BlueCat Linux Cygwin => make all

now I need to build the flash version! How can I do this?

Best regards,

Marco

Marco,

If you want a 'real' bootloader, Blucat includes the fairly full featured BLOSH.   BlueCat is a commercial product; were they unable to assist with it?
