Disable STDIN

I am trying to disable stdin for my Zynq Linux environment for various reasons. Ideally I would like to do this through the devicetree.

I tried modifying bootargs (no noticeable difference),

 bootargs = "root=/dev/ram rw /* attempt to disable stdin */
/* bootargs = "console=ttyPS0,115200 root=/dev/ram rw earlyprintk"; */ /* normal bootargs */

As well as disabling ttyPS0 manually (however this just ends up hanging the kernel),

 / {
         aliases {
                 ethernet0 = &gem0;
                 /* /dev/ttyPS0 */
                 serial0 = &uart1;
                 /* /dev/ttyPS1 */
                 serial1 = &uart0;
         };
 };
 &uart1 {
         device_type = "serial";
         status = "disable";
 };

Any ideas? Totally hacky options are fine. Thanks.
