How to add ntpq to petalinux 2019.1 ntp package?

I apologize if this is a dumb question. We've managed to make a number of additions to yocto packages but have not had any luck adding ntpq to the ntp package. We need a way to verify that ntp is syncing properly. I've dug through the source yocto stuff but for the life of me cant figure out how to add ntpq. It appears to be building but is not included.

If anyone can point me in a good starting direction that'd be excellent!!

thanks

HI @MattWilbur

Please follow below steps to add ntp as a part of your rootfs.

vim project-spec/meta-user/recipes-core/images/petalinux-image-full.bbappend

add below line
IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " ntp"

petalinux-config -c rootfs
user packages --> [*] ntp

petalinux-build

Thanks & regards

Aravind

Hi Aravind

Thanks. I already have ntp added. Within the ntpd source there is a utility called ntpq that allows use to verify that ntp is synchronizing. I can't figure out how to add it to the included files in the rootfs. I can probably build in a vm environment and push over with our software but would rather it just be included as part of the OS.

thx

matt

ntpq is its own package.  Just do the same steps @aravindb described but with ntpq.

vim project-spec/meta-user/recipes-core/images/petalinux-image-full.bbappend

add below line
IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " ntpq"

petalinux-config -c rootfs
user packages --> [*] ntpq

petalinux-build
