I had a hdf file exported using a bit file. I want to generate the image.ub file using Petalinux 2018.2, to be used in SD card along with boot.bin file.
In the Config settings, I kept everything as default, then gave petalinux-build command.
The image.ub generated is 13.4 MB. Earlier we had a working image.ub file which had size 33 MB. My question is:
1) What is that affects the size of image.ub file. As I have used the same HDF to generate the image file in Petalinux?
2) Is there any known Config settings which can reduce the size of image file?
3) I had gone through UG1144 but didn't find any specific answer.
Waiting for suggestions.

The image.ub size will depend on the configuration you give for the kernel (petalinux-config -c kernel) and rootfs (petalinux-config -c rootfs)

The image.ub has the Image, and the rootfs, (and the system.dtb in 2018.2). So, as florent said, how you config the kernela and the rootfs would affect the size. Have a look in the images/linux foldr and compare the rootfs size and the Image size.
