Linux Console options for multiprocessor system

We are trying to  run multiple Linux instances on a multiprocessor system. However the FPGA board we are working with is a PCI-Express card with no RS232 connector. It only has a Samtec QSH connector.

What is the usual solution for the console implementation for a multiprocessor system? (Normally, the Xilinx card has at most one RS232 connector.)

Can we put the console on the PCI-Express connection?

Or should we find adapters to redirect UART pins on the Samtec QSH connector?

In the kernel source, it seems to me that the serial port is the only choice for the console.

Thank you very much,

Re: Linux Console options for multiprocessor system

There may be alternatives for the console that I don't know as I haven't researched that. From my experience, having a serial port is the best option for the console so I would pin out the signals to a connector.
