Pax in petalinux 2019.1

Jump to solution

Hi all.

I had a 2018.3 project that I could add Pax to just fine.

However, in 2019.1, the pax recipe seems to be missing.

In my Petalinux 2018.3 installation, there is a folder under

<petalinux 2018.3 install>/components/yocto/source/aarch64/layers/core/meta/recipes-extended/

called "pax" which contains the recipe for the tool.

In 2019.1, however, no such directory exists.

Hi @eliezer

I'm not familiar with petalinux.

But pax is obsolute in petalinux 2019.1 (it is called thud in yocto world).

So you can't find it in petalinux 2019.1

Would you refer the following, if you want to know details ?

The patch notes say "pax is obsolete" but do not provide any further information.

I only need pax for unpacking .cpio archive files, is there a different tool that I should use instead?
