PetaLinux Application Installation Failure "cannot stat"

Compiles successfully but will not install. I love Bitbake.

DEBUG: Executing shell function do_install
install: cannot stat 'appname': No such file or directory
WARNING: exit code 1 from a shell command.
ERROR: Function failed: do_install (log file is located at /home/usernumber1/PetaLinuxProject/project/build/tmp/work/cortexa9hf-neon-xilinx-linux-gnueabi/appname/1.0-r0/temp/log.do_install.27118)

Any obvious issues?

Re: PetaLinux Application Installation Failure "cannot stat"

No matter what I do to the Makefile, the build still succeeds. If I take all the object names out, the build will succeed.

Very weird.

It looks like

do_compile() {

      oe_runmake

}

works but

do_install if failing.

My makefile has

1. Name of executable to be generated

2. Name of object files to be generated

3. Rule to generate executable from object files

4. Rule to generate object files from source code

The fact that do_install fails to find the executable suggests that do_compile might be screwed up. I do now know how to see bitbake output as PetaLinux builds nor how to print Makefile output as Petalinux builds. That makes it really hard to tell if either

1. do_compile is triggering the Makefile

2. The makefile is compiling the source properly
