Petalinux 2016.4 Remote u-boot

Jump to solution

Has anyone tried to use u-boot remote? I tried using an older u-boot version from github by specifying the url and tag but ran into issues with recipes already in the petalinux tools folder.

Hi

If you want to try to use other versions of u-boot, make sure to have following contents properly, which is according to your u-boot, (components/yocto/source/aarch64/layers/meta-xilinx/recipes-bsp/u-boot/u-boot-xlnx_2016.07.bb)

include u-boot-xlnx.inc

# this matches u-boot-xlnx 'xilinx-v2016.4' release tag
SRCREV = "0b94ce5ed4a6c2cd0fec7b8337e776b03e387347"
PV = "v2016.07${XILINX_EXTENSION}+git${SRCPV}"

FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend := "${THISDIR}/u-boot-xlnx:"

SRC_URI_append_kc705-microblazeel = " file://microblaze-kc705-Convert-microblaze-generic-to-k.patch"

LIC_FILES_CHKSUM = "file://README;beginline=1;endline=6;md5=157ab8408beab40cd8ce1dc69f702a6c"

UBOOT_ENV_zc702-zynq7 = "uEnv"
UBOOT_ENV_zedboard-zynq7 = "uEnv"

SRC_URI_append_zc702-zynq7 = " file://uEnv.txt"
SRC_URI_append_zedboard-zynq7 = " file://uEnv.txt"

Do you mean a different u-boot repository that is not xilinx's?  If yes, then I use a private repo for u-boot(and the kernel) and created my own recipes in my bsp layer.

Hi @gavenant

Do you mean that you added recipes to the default configuration kernel and the modified the source to use remote repository? Can you post you error log?

Regards,

Ibai

 I was trying to use the remote URL option in the petalinux-config, pointing to Xilinx's repos but to a different tag. There was a few features that changed from the previous version of U-boot that I just want to test against my current project setup (the I2C stopped detecting the bus between versions 2016.1 and 2016.7 of u-boot) .

I made a mistake with the URL and fixed that - it downloaded the appropriate u-boot tag correctly. I just have to figure out what changed in the U-boot configs since I couldn't just do a drop in replacement.
