Petalinux Flash Partition Updated By HDF

Hey all,

I have been using petalinux with a microblaze system. When configuring my petalinux project with a hardware description file the flash partitions I had previously set in the project-spec/configs/config file are overwritten.

  1. Why is this being reconfigured?
  2. How can I prevent the HDF from changing my flash partition settings or modify settings in the created HDF?

When I run the petalinux-config step I get the following message.

INFO: Updating the flash partition size to 0x1160000 bytes, based on the bitstream in the HDF

This causes the following diff in project-spec/configs/config

- CONFIG_SUBSYSTEM_FLASH...AXI_QUAD_SPI_0_BANKLESS_PART0_SIZE=0x800000

+ CONFIG_SUBSYSTEM_FLASH...AXI_QUAD_SPI_0_BANKLESS_PART0_SIZE=0x1160000

- CONFIG_SUBSYSTEM_FLASH...AXI_QUAD_SPI_0_BANKLESS_PART1_SIZE=0x1B00000

+ CONFIG_SUBSYSTEM_FLASH...AXI_QUAD_SPI_0_BANKLESS_PART1_SIZE=0x1160000

- CONFIG_SUBSYSTEM_FLASH...AXI_QUAD_SPI_0_BANKLESS_PART2_SIZE=0x400000

+ CONFIG_SUBSYSTEM_FLASH...AXI_QUAD_SPI_0_BANKLESS_PART2_SIZE=0x1160000

Just wanted to share a quick update about this issue.

One way to work-around this is to copy in the HDF file into the directory project-spec/hw-description and the run the following command.

petalinux-config --oldconfig
